Bishop Ridley Church Falconwood takes up challenge to ‘become radically different’ 

Following the advice of The Archbishops of Canterbury and York, Bishop Ridley Church, Falconwood has suspended all services. As soon as advice suggests it is safe to begin services again, they will resume.  The church is also taking up the challenge of The Archbishops to ‘become radically different’.

Rev Mark Tariq, Vicar of Bishop Ridley Church, said: “While we won’t physically be meeting, we are taking up the challenge of The Archbishops to ‘become radically different’. We are already planning with other local community organisations to make sure the most vulnerable members of our community in Falconwood do not come under any hardship. We will be announcing more about this in the coming days. 

Mark continued: “In the meantime, we will still be supporting anyone in our local community who feels they need it. We are posting regularly on our facebook page and are looking to run ‘virtual services’. We also have a team of people who are providing shopping, pharmacy collections and other practical help to members of our community who need it. We also encourage members of our community to leave their donations for the Bexley Foodbank at the church. We know that as the situation goes on many people will also find themselves in financial difficulties, we want to make sure they can access food whatever comes. 

Mark concluded: “We have a team of people who are praying for those affected by Covid-19. We will be taking part in the national day of prayer on Sunday (22 March – Mothering Sunday). As The Archbishops have said, I encourage everyone to pray on that day whether you are a churchgoer or not, God is always ready listen. And if you can’t pray let us know what you would like prayers for so we can pray for you.”
