Volunteer Cooks Needed
Bishop Ridley Church, Falconwood is looking to recruit 2 or 3 volunteer cooks to help prepare wholesome hot meals on a monthly rota basis for people living alone in the local community.
It offers the opportunity:
- to volunteers who have a desire to share their cooking skills and be a vital part of a team to fulfil a practical need in combating loneliness
& isolation.
- to guests attending to come along, have a chat and make new friends whilst enjoying a meal in a warm and safe environment.
We currently have a regular attendance of about 20 people on a Tuesday each month between 12.30 and 14.30. However, there is scope for flexibility in varying the weekday, depending upon availability.
Other members of the team assist in setting up tables, serving the meals, washing up and clearing up. The cooks and those setting up start at 9.30.
What skills do I need?
- Cooks must have a valid Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, although Bishop Ridley Church will assist in attaining it, if needed.
- A warm and friendly personality, reliable and dependable.
- A genuine interest and concern for people living alone.
